96 Wine Advocate – I have referred to this wine in the past as a blend of the “three graces,” and that analogy comes to mind once again. Made with 20% Falanghina, 40% Fiano di Avellino and 40% Greco di Tufo, the Quintodecimo 2021 Irpinia Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio delivers the playful nature of the first grape, the texture of the second and the vertical lift of the third. This is the whole package from Campania, and it’s a wonder that more vintners don’t experiment with Campania white blends. A limited production of 4,290 bottles, this shows tropical tones, pie crust, custard, honey and fragrant white flower. The wine is tight and compact on first impact, but it needs more bottle time to flesh out and open. This is a beauty.
The Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio is a wine that comes from the union of three white vines, Greco, Falanghina and Fiano, which in Quintodecimo are already produced in the mono-varietal version. The manual harvest takes place in small 15 kg boxes and the vinification consists of a soft pressing and a fermentation for 60% in new French oak barriques and for 40% in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 18-20 C. This wine combines the characteristics of each of the parts, providing a contribution greater than their simple sum, creating the conditions for an olfactory and gustatory amplification of the wine and for its greater longevity. The Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio has a straw yellow color and the nose opens with a bouquet with varietal aromas with aromas of exotic fruit and a slight mineral matrix. Full and dry on the palate with a pleasant and persistent aromatic aftertaste.
