93 Wine Advocate – It is a seductive, rich, generously endowed effort revealing plenty of spice box, herb, black currant, kirsch, espresso, and toasty oak characteristics in a decidedly modern, but opulent, fleshy style.
91-93 Int’l Wine Cellar – Full bright ruby. Very primary aromas of blackberry, black cherry and bitter chocolate. Lush on entry, then superripe but lively, with firm acids giving the dark berry and chocolate flavors very good definition. A bit closed in the middle but very long and ripely tannic. I found this to be unusually suave and nuanced last year too. Potentially the best vintage of Monbousquet to date.
