The Nerello Mascalese vine (Negrello), raised in alberello is the main native vine. It has a large, medium, compact bunch, medium-sized berry, light blue skin, very pruinose, with a sweet, very tannic flavor. Nerello Cappuccio or Mantellato is always raised in alberello and has a medium, short, compact bunch, medium berry, blue-black skin, with a sweet, slightly tannic taste.
The wine has a pale ruby red color. The nose is ethereal and intense with hints of red fruits. The palate is dry and mineral with pleasant acidity and salinity, persistent and harmonious.
